Disclosure and editorial policy

A reference site is only worth reading if you can tell what is influencing it. This page states how handpiece.com is funded and what that does and does not affect.

The short version

  • No manufacturer pays for placement, ranking or coverage on this site.
  • No company reviews or approves our technical content before publication.
  • Where a commercial relationship exists, the page that contains the link says so.
  • Technical statements are made on the basis of how the equipment works, and are corrected when they are wrong.

How the site may be funded

Running a reference site costs money. Permitted funding routes, all of which will be disclosed where they appear:

  1. Referral commissions. If a page links to a supplier, parts retailer or service partner and that link earns a commission when something is bought, the link is labelled as a partner or commercial link. The commission does not change what the page says about the product or the fault.
  2. Service partner referrals. Repair and part enquiries may be passed to a partner who performs the work. Where that happens, it is stated on the page and in the reply you receive.
  3. Clearly marked sponsorship. If a supplier ever sponsors a page, a newsletter or a comparison, it is labelled at the top of the content and in the surrounding description, and the content remains ours.

What is not permitted

  • Paying for a positive review, a higher position in a list, or removal of a known fault from a page.
  • Presenting an advertorial as an independent article.
  • Presenting third-party "compatible" parts as equivalent to genuine manufacturer parts without saying which is which.
  • Publishing a specification figure we cannot support, in order to make one product look better than another.

Imagery on this site

All photographic images on this site are AI-generated illustrations, produced specifically for handpiece.com. They are atmospheric scenes, not photographs of specific products, and they do not depict any particular manufacturer's instrument. Where a diagram needs to be mechanically accurate, it is drawn as a vector illustration instead of a photograph. If you believe any image resembles a protected design too closely, tell us and it will be replaced.

Genuine parts versus compatible parts

This distinction matters and we do not blur it. "Genuine" means made or supplied by the original manufacturer. "Compatible" or "equivalent" means made by someone else to work in the same place. Compatible parts can be entirely adequate, and they can also differ in materials, tolerances, cycle ratings and regulatory status. Where we refer to a part, we say which kind it is. Any "compatible with" claim made by a seller is treated as unverified until checked against the manufacturer's documentation.

Technical content and medical device status

Everything on this site is general technical orientation for equipment owners and technicians. It is not medical advice, not infection-control guidance, and not a substitute for the instructions for use supplied with a device or for the requirements of your local regulator. Where this site and an IFU disagree, the IFU governs — and we would like to be told, so the error can be fixed.

Corrections

If you believe something here is inaccurate, send the correction with whatever supporting material you have. Corrections are applied on the basis of evidence, not on the basis of who is asking, and material corrections are noted on the page.
